The Writing Eye
Abstract
In poetry and other literary texts, the writer's ability to kook and see -- embodied in the term insight — is deemed of prime importance. However, seeing is not as simple as it seems. It involves a negotiation between what we see and what we know of what we see. Moreover, seeing also requires a negotiation between how we see things and how others see things. It is in these negotiations, therefore, that we are able to investigate the other's way of seeing and, in the process, explore still more ways of apprehending the world and arrive at an insight.
